february 14th. 8:27 a.m. 27 degrees. 5 men, ranging in age from 20s to 50s, standing in line outside the local florist, waiting for the shop to open. only one of them wears a hat.
so i was out having two VERY STRONG margaritas with my friend kristen at the ABC, and in the middle of our talk, kristen looks out at the street, somewhat concerned. i asked what she saw, and she said, "oh, just some guy crawling on the pavement." i looked up, surveyed the scene, and said, "oh, that's just crazy clean up guy." you know, the crazy guy in our town who can be seen picking up tiny scraps of garbage, weeding public parks, pruning town trees with his bare hands, all while appearing, well, not so clean himself. this seems to be his main thing, getting the garbage out. harmless enough. but then i remembered, several weeks ago, waiting at the main traffic light in town, and somebody was crawling across the crosswalk in front of my car. so it must have been a new crazy person, because crazy cleaning guy can definitely be seen on his hands and knees getting all the cigarette butts up, but when he needs to get from one place to another, he does it on two feet.
i've been in 2.5-week-no-daycare-limbo, and being the poor stay-at-home-mom that i am, these 2.5 weeks have not been my shining glory. morgan starts preschool again on monday. maddy's back to school on thursday. i've got a spot reserved for myself in rehab, just in case.
